From siding and trim to doors, porches, and fences, every exterior surface gets the prep and coating its material needs, on homes and commercial buildings across Porter, Lake, and LaPorte Counties.

Siding

Wood, vinyl, and fiber cement siding, washed, scraped, and primed where needed so the new coating bonds and lasts.

Brick & Stucco

Masonry and stucco exteriors coated with primer and sheen chosen for the substrate, not a one-size-fits-all product.

Trim, Soffits & Fascia

Rot repaired, gaps caulked, and bare wood primed before crisp, clean lines go on every trim board, soffit, and fascia.

Doors, Shutters, Porches & Fences

Front and garage doors, shutters, porches, fences, and railings. Decks get their own process on our deck staining page.

Premium Exterior Coatings

Premium 100% acrylic exterior coatings rated for Midwest freeze-thaw cycles. We explain the options and cost differences at the estimate so you choose with the facts.

Weather Timing

Humidity off Lake Michigan and big temperature swings mean timing matters. We paint inside the manufacturer's temperature and humidity windows and tell you when a day is not a painting day.

Our Process

Our Exterior Process: Preparation, Priming, Protection

Every exterior job follows the same three steps, so you know what to expect from the first rinse to the final walkthrough.

01

Inspect & Prepare

We power wash, scrape and sand failing paint, repair rot and caulk gaps, and mask windows, fixtures, and landscaping to protect what is not being painted.

02

Prime for Adhesion

Bare wood, patched areas, and problem spots get a primer matched to the substrate, giving the topcoat a stable foundation that resists peeling.

03

Coat & Protect

Two coats of premium exterior paint by brush and roller for full coverage, then we walk the property with you to confirm every edge and surface meets our standard.

How Northwest Indiana Weather Wears Down Exterior Paint

Snow, Ice, and Freeze and Thaw

Water does the most damage. Snow piles against siding, ice builds along gutters, and any crack in paint or caulk lets water into the wood. It freezes, expands, and pushes paint off from behind, then thaws and soaks in deeper. That cycle repeats all winter here, which is why we spend so much time caulking joints, sealing nail heads, and priming bare wood.

Sun on South and West Walls

The sunny sides of a house almost always fail first. UV light breaks down paint, fades the color, and leaves a chalky powder that new paint will not stick to. We wash that chalk off completely before we prime.

Humidity and Mildew

North walls and shady spots stay damp through humid summers, and mildew grows. We clean and treat it before painting so it does not come back through the new coat.

Painting Season and Dew Point

Exterior painting in Indiana runs from late spring into fall. The air and the siding both have to be warm enough, and the surface has to stay above the dew point long enough for paint to dry. On cool fall evenings, dew can settle on fresh paint and leave streaks. In those months we start later, stop earlier, and follow the sun around the house.

Siding and Trim

Exterior Painting in Valparaiso, Siding by Siding

Wood Siding

Wood moves with the seasons, so it needs flexible paint and careful prep. We scrape and sand loose paint and spot prime bare wood. Cedar can bleed through light colors, so it gets a stain blocking primer.

Aluminum and Vinyl Siding

Older aluminum siding holds paint well once the heavy chalk is washed off, and scratches down to bare metal get primed. Vinyl can be painted too, but a color much darker than the original can make it warp in summer heat, so we use paint made for vinyl and help you pick a safe color.

Fiber Cement, Brick, and Stucco

Fiber cement takes paint well with good prep. Brick and stucco hold moisture, so they need a breathable masonry primer and paint. If your brick has never been painted, we will talk it through first, because once brick is painted it stays painted.

Trim, Soffit, and Fascia Repair

These boards take the most water on a house. Overflowing gutters and ice backing up under shingles rot the wood behind the paint. We check the trim during the estimate. Small soft spots can be cut out and filled, and boards that are too far gone get replaced, because paint over rot will not hold. Any repair is written into your estimate.

FAQ

Exterior Painting Questions, Answered

Common questions about cost, paint life, weather, and how we protect your property.

  • How much does exterior house painting cost in Northwest Indiana?

It depends on the size of the home, siding type, how much prep is needed, and the paint you choose. We measure on site and give a written, itemized estimate. Free, no pressure, and no hidden fees.
  • How long does exterior paint last in Northwest Indiana's climate?

With proper prep and a quality coating, most exteriors hold up seven to ten years depending on sun exposure, siding material, and how the house was prepped. Prep is the single biggest factor, which is why we spend so much time on it.
  • What time of year is best for exterior painting here?

Late spring through early fall, when temperatures and humidity stay inside the range the paint needs to cure. We watch the forecast closely and schedule around it.
  • Do you paint in cooler weather?

When conditions allow. We use paints formulated for lower-temperature application and follow manufacturer guidelines, and we will tell you if a day is not safe to paint.
  • Will you protect my landscaping and walkways?

Always. Plantings, walkways, lighting, and outdoor fixtures are masked and covered before work begins, and the site is cleaned at the end of every day.
  • Do you paint commercial exteriors?

Yes. Storefronts, offices, and multi-unit buildings across Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties. See our commercial painting page for scheduling details.
  • Can you paint vinyl siding?

Yes, with the right paint and the right color. We clean the siding, use a paint made for vinyl, and keep the new color close enough to the original that the siding does not soak up too much heat and warp in summer sun. We will show you which colors are safe for your siding.

  • What happens if it rains during my exterior job?

We check the forecast every day. If rain is coming, we work on sheltered areas or wrap up early so fresh paint has time to dry. Then we pick back up once the siding is dry again. You will hear from us about any change to the schedule.

  • Do I need to be home while you paint the outside?

No. Many customers are at work while we paint. We need access to outdoor outlets and a hose, and we ask that cars be moved away from the house and windows kept closed on the side we are working. We will walk through the plan with you before we start.
