What's Included

Interior Surfaces and Finishes, Handled Right

Every interior surface in your home or business gets the prep and finish that material needs. We match the product to the room instead of using one paint everywhere.

Walls & Ceilings

Smooth, even coverage with washable finishes matched to how each room is used, from high-traffic hallways to quiet bedrooms.

Trim, Doors & Baseboards

Crisp, durable lines using enamel finishes built to stand up to kids, pets, and daily wear.

Cabinets & Built-Ins

Sprayed or hand-finished cabinet refreshes for kitchens, bathrooms, and offices, at a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Accent Walls & Specialty Finishes

Bold colors, two-tone treatments, and feature walls done with careful masking and sharp edges.

Drywall Repair & Surface Prep

Patching, sanding, and priming so nail holes, cracks, and old repairs do not show through the final coat.

Color Guidance

We offer color guidance at the estimate and can put sample swatches on your walls before you commit to a full room.

Our Process

Preparation Is Where Quality Starts

Every interior job follows the same four steps, so you know what to expect from the first drop cloth to the final walkthrough.

01

Protect & Prep

Furniture is moved or covered, floors and fixtures are masked, and surfaces are cleaned and sanded before anything else happens.

02

Repair & Prime

Cracks, nail holes, and drywall imperfections are patched and primed so nothing telegraphs through the finish.

03

Paint with Precision

Two coats applied with careful cutting-in and consistent technique for even coverage and sharp lines at every ceiling and corner.

04

Inspect & Clean Up

You walk every wall and trim line with our team before the drop cloths come up and the space is left spotless.

Room by Room

How We Paint Each Room in Your Home

Every room wears paint differently. A kitchen deals with grease and steam, a hallway gets brushed by backpacks and the dog, and a guest bedroom mostly gets looked at. We plan each room around how it is used.

Kitchens and Bathrooms

These rooms are hardest on paint. We wash the walls with a degreaser first, because paint will not grip a film of cooking oil. Then we use a moisture resistant finish with a little more sheen so it wipes clean and handles steam, and we take extra care around tubs, backsplashes, and vanities.

Bedrooms and Living Spaces

Here the goal is a calm, even look. A lower sheen hides small dents and roller marks, which matters in rooms with big windows. Family rooms that see kids and pets need something more washable, so we often land in between.

Ceilings

Water stains from an old roof leak or an upstairs bathroom will bleed through regular paint, so we seal them with a stain blocking primer. A flat ceiling paint hides lap marks, and we cut a clean line where ceiling meets wall.

Trim, Doors, and Cabinets

Trim and doors get a harder enamel. We fill nail holes, caulk gaps, and sand between coats. Cabinets take more prep than anything else inside a house. Doors and hardware come off, every surface is cleaned and sanded, and a bonding primer goes on before the finish coats.

Sheen Quick Guide

Flat: ceilings and low traffic walls
Eggshell: living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms
Satin: hallways, kids' rooms, kitchens, baths
Semi gloss: trim, doors, baseboards, cabinets

Getting It Right

What Affects the Result of Interior Painting

Choosing the Right Sheen

Flat paint has almost no shine. It hides flaws and suits ceilings, but it does not scrub clean. Eggshell has a soft glow and wipes clean, so it fits living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. Satin is tougher and is what we usually suggest for hallways, kids' rooms, kitchens, and baths. Semi gloss is hard and easy to wash, and it belongs on trim, doors, and cabinets. The shinier the paint, the more it shows what is underneath, so prep counts even more.

Older Plaster and Newer Drywall

Valparaiso has plenty of older homes with plaster walls and newer subdivisions built with drywall. Plaster gets hairline cracks and often carries old oil based paint that new paint will not stick to without the right primer, so we test old coatings and open and fill cracks. New drywall needs a primer made for bare paper and joint compound, or the seams show through as dull stripes.

Living at Home While We Paint

Most customers stay home while we work. We finish one area at a time, keep a clear path to the kitchen and bathrooms, and pack up each day. Tell us about pets at the estimate and we will plan which doors stay closed.

How Long an Interior Job Takes

Time depends more on what a room needs than on its size. Cracked plaster, a stained ceiling, lots of trim, or an accent wall each add steps and drying time. Cabinets take the longest. We put a schedule in your written estimate.

FAQ

Interior Painting Questions, Answered

Common questions about cost, timelines, paint, and how we work in occupied homes and offices.

  • How much does interior painting cost in Valparaiso or Northwest Indiana?

It depends on the number of rooms, ceiling height, surface condition, and whether trim, doors, or cabinets are included. We measure on site and give you a written, itemized estimate so there are no surprises. Estimates are free and there is no pressure to decide that day.
  • How long does an interior painting project take?

Most single rooms take one to two days. Whole-home repaints typically run three to seven days depending on square footage and prep. Your estimate includes a specific timeline.
  • What type of paint do you use for interiors?

Professional-grade, low-VOC paints matched to each room: durable enamels for trim, doors, and kitchens, and softer sheens for bedrooms and living areas. We are happy to discuss brands and sheen levels during your consultation.
  • Do I need to move my furniture?

No. We move and protect furniture and belongings as part of every job. Larger pieces are shifted to the center of the room and fully covered, and everything goes back when we finish.
  • Can you help me choose colors?

Yes. We offer color guidance at the estimate and can put sample swatches on your walls before you commit to a full room.
  • Do you paint occupied homes and offices?

Yes. We section off work areas, keep walkways clear, and clean up daily so the rest of your home or business stays usable. For businesses we can also work evenings and weekends.
  • Can you paint over wallpaper?

We usually recommend taking it down, since paint can loosen the seams and cause bubbles. If removal would damage the wall, we can seal the paper with a primer made for it and paint over it. We will tell you which way makes sense.

  • Can you cover a dark wall color with a light one?

Yes. Going from a deep color to a light one usually takes a tinted primer coat first so the old color does not ghost through. We account for that in your estimate.

  • Is winter a good time for interior painting?

Yes. Interior work goes on all year, and the colder months are a good time to get on our schedule. We just need the heat on in the rooms we paint so the paint dries properly.

  • Can you paint only the trim or only the ceilings?

Yes. Some of our interior jobs are just trim and doors, or just ceilings with water stains. We prep those surfaces the same way we would on a full room, and we protect the walls we are not painting.
