Home Base
Porter County
We are based in Valparaiso, so Porter County is our shortest drive and our most frequent work, from historic homes near downtown Valpo to the dune-side towns along the lakeshore.
Town Pages
Valparaiso / Chesterton / Portage
Also serving: Porter, Burns Harbor, Hebron, Kouts, Beverly Shores, Ogden Dunes, Dune Acres, Lakes of the Four Seasons, South Haven, Wheeler, and Boone Grove.
Residential & Commercial
Lake County
Most of our commercial work and a growing share of our residential work: downtowns in Crown Point and Hobart, retail corridors in Merrillville and Schererville, and newer subdivisions in St. John, Dyer, and Cedar Lake.
Town Pages
Crown Point / Merrillville / Hobart / Schererville / St. John / Munster / Highland / Dyer / Griffith / Cedar Lake / Hammond / Gary
Also serving: Whiting, East Chicago, Lake Station, New Chicago, Lowell, Lake Dalecarlia, Winfield, and Schneider.
Lakefront & Historic
LaPorte County
LaPorte County homes take the brunt of lake-effect weather, especially along the shoreline in Michigan City and Long Beach. We spec exterior coatings and deck stains for those conditions and bring the same care inland to La Porte's historic downtown.
Town Pages
Also serving: Westville, Wanatah, Long Beach, Michiana Shores, Pottawattamie Park, Trail Creek, Kingsford Heights, Kingsbury, Rolling Prairie, Hanna, Union Mills, and Fish Lake.
Local Matters
Why a Valparaiso-Based Painter Is Worth It
Estimates happen fast because we are already in the area. We know which products hold up on a 1920s clapboard in Chesterton versus a vinyl-sided two-story in St. John, and we know what a lake-effect winter does to a deck in Michigan City. And when the job is done, we are close enough to come back if you ever need us.

How We Cover the Region
One Valparaiso Crew Serving Three Counties
We are a small crew, and we plan our work that way. Our owner gives every estimate in person and works on site with Noah and Zar, so the same people show up whether your house is a few blocks from downtown Valparaiso or out near the Michigan line. Valpo sits close to the middle of the area we cover. Most of Porter County is a short drive, Lake County is an easy trip west along US 30, and LaPorte County is straight east.
Painting in Porter County
Porter County is home, and it is where we paint most often. In Valparaiso we work on older houses near downtown with plaster walls and wood siding, and on newer neighborhoods at the edges of town where drywall and vinyl are the norm. Chesterton and Porter sit near the dunes, where wind and blowing sand off the lake wear exterior paint faster than it wears farther inland. Portage has a wide mix of homes along with storefronts and offices on its main roads. Town pages:Valparaiso,Chesterton, andPortage.
Painting in Lake County
Lake County covers the most ground and the widest range of buildings. Crown Point and Hobart have historic downtowns and plenty of older homes with detailed trim. Hammond, Gary, Griffith, and Highland have a lot of established neighborhoods where the job often starts with scraping years of old paint. St. John, Dyer, Schererville, and Cedar Lake have many newer subdivisions, where the work is usually a first repaint over builder paint or a color change after a move. Merrillville and Schererville, with their busy retail roads, bring us a good share of our commercial painting. Munster falls somewhere in between. Painting in LaPorte County
Michigan City sits right on Lake Michigan. Homes there take more wind, moisture, and lake effect snow than almost anywhere else we work, so exterior paint and deck stain have a harder life, and prep and product choice matter even more. La Porte is inland, with a historic downtown and a lot of older homes whose trim takes patience to scrape and paint well. Town pages:Michigan CityandLa Porte.
What Affects the Result
What Changes From One Part of Northwest Indiana to Another
The way we paint stays the same from town to town. What changes is what the building is up against and what it is made of. These are the things we look at closely at every estimate, because they decide how much prep a job needs and which coatings make sense.
Shoreline or Inland
Homes near the lake in Chesterton, Porter, and Michigan City take more wind, moisture, and blowing sand. Inland, the bigger problem is often sun on the south and west walls, which fades color and dries out wood. We look at which sides of your house take the worst of it and plan the prep and coatings around that.
Older or Newer Homes
Older homes often have plaster walls, many layers of old paint, and wood siding and trim that need careful scraping and priming. Newer homes usually have drywall and vinyl or fiber cement siding, where the work is more about clean surfaces, tight caulk lines, and choosing the right sheen for each room.
Season and Timing
Interior painting goes on all year. Exterior and deck work runs from late spring into fall, when days are warm enough and nights stay mild enough for paint and stain to cure properly. If you are planning outside work, reaching out over the winter or early spring gives you the best choice of dates.
